Chamber Music Institute 2024

With the Blue Ridge Quartet:

This  intensive chamber music experience with our resident quartet is for advanced string players who are at least 12 years old.  (exceptional younger students will be considered).  Curriculum includes:

 

· Two hours of daily chamber  music coaching (beginning Sunday afternoon)

· Daily private lesson masterclasses (beginning Monday)

· Advanced string orchestra (Sinfonia)

· Faculty quartet observation

· Student and faculty concerts

· Optional enrichment elective (fiddling, celtic cello, improvisation, etc.)

 

Students must be playing at the following minimum levels: Violin: Suzuki book 7 or equivalent repertoire .  Viola: Suzuki book 4 or equivalent repertoire.  Cello: Suzuki book 5 or equivalent repertoire.  Guitar: Suzuki book 8 or equivalent.  Students will be selected by video submission and teacher recommendation.  Pre-formed ensembles may apply as a group.  Requirements:

 

· Short video of a piece that demonstrates the student’s current playing

· Recommendation letter from private teacher or chamber music instructor

· List of previous chamber music experience and repertoire studied

 

Application deadline for this program is April 15, 2024 but earlier is recommended.
